Terry Longden

Terry was born 10th June 1963 in the city of Birmingham, UK. He excelled at art in school and soon developed an eye for the dramatic. He entered the 80's and embracing the punk/new romantic period, Terry started experimenting with make-up and soon with his training in hairdressing, became a stylist and make-up artist.

1986 then saw Terry taken on as hair and make-up artist for his uncle, Ozzy Osbourne, with the 'Ultimate Sin World Tour'. Shortly after his return Terry continues to educate himself and open his own salon just outside of the city of Birmingham. Still continuing in hairdressing and working as a freelance hair and make-up artist for session work, and occasional consultant for Braun, Terry continued with training and became an accomplished hair extensionist for 'Raccoon International' and later achieved one of the highest qualifications to receive in hairdressing, 'The L'Oreal Colour Specialist Degree'. Shortly after passing his degree, Terry then became the hair and make-up artist for Kelly Osbourne who was opening for Robbie Williams on his European Tour, and after this was when he applied for a position on Channel 4's reality television show 'The Salon'.

Terry was on ‘The Salon’ for 25 weeks, which incidentally became the longest continual running reality TV show 'ever'. Constantly being filmed 'live' daily for 10 hours meant Terry developed his skills as an all round hairdresser, make-up artist, personal makeover stylist and television personality, including standing in for Brian Dowling as the voice over artist for The Salon. Terry then went on to star in the first 'live' episodes of ITV's 'Love on a Saturday Night' hosted by Davina McCall, as one of the 'surprise makeover team'.

Shortly after, Terry was then flown to America where he regularly appeared as the makeover stylist on 'The Sharon Osbourne Show' and was also filmed for the fourth series of 'The Osbournes'. On Terry's return from the States, he embarked on an Irish and UK tour for the global hair company 'MATRIX', where he was part of a hair industry facilitated stage show, comprising of dancers and where Terry performed and demonstrated in front of a 300 strong audience as the 'only' Artistic Director for colour.

Terry worked as an image stylist for Sharon Osbourne's three finalists of the highly successful ITV talent show The X Factor, of which Terry became a weekly critic on ITV's This Morning and wrote a weekly revue of the show in NOW magazine. In between working on The X Factor, Terry also managed to join a few of the dates on MATRIX 'So Twisted' autumn road show and also to appear on Bo Selecta's 'A Bears Christmas Tail' on Channel 4.

In 2005 Terry began his own weekly 'male grooming column' in The Daily Express and guest appearances on BBC3's Celebrity Fame Academy and ITV2's Celebrity Wrestling, and Terry was again touring with MATRIX on their highly successful 'In The Zone' road show. He headlined the MATRIX sponsored Fellowship Tour was an integral part of the launch of the 'new tech' SoColor Beauty hair colour range, touring the UK and Europe with platform exhibitions, written and taught by Terry himself.

In 2006 Terry appeared on Children in Need taking phone calls live on the show as well as hosting a fashion show in Belfast. He also guested on the E! Hollywood True Story for ’The Osbournes’, paid a visit to Elton John’s Oscar Viewing party in LA and Elton John Aids Foundation’s White Tie and Tiara Ball as well as continuing his work for MATRIX.

2007 was an important time for Terry as he publicly disclosed his HIV status to the press. His positive attitude resulted in him being asked to become an ambassador for the Northern Ireland based charity AIDS2000. Terry’s involvement with the charity combined with his own personal experience and passionate fight against the stigma surrounding this pandemic, has now moved Terry to another area of his personal and professional life, where raising money and awareness of this disease and its effects, is adding another aspect to his persona which he had never thought possible. He also decided a move to Manchester was needed, and once there teamed up with Rowetta of Happy Monday’s and X Factor fame and they co-presented a radio show for Gaydar Radio for a month during the lead-up to Manchester Pride. It was such a success that it was nominated for an award in the Pink Paper Awards, and Rowetta and Terry still regularly present awards together at various ceremonies.

2007 also saw Terry become colour director for Matrix’s ‘Twilight Tales’ hair collection, teach expert colour to established hairdressers and write another course for 2008 which shows no sign of slowing down for him either! To book Terry for work, please email requests to info@unleashedpr.com
