Daniel
de Bourg
Daniel, born April 13th 1976 in Chelmsford Essex, has been involved in music and performing arts from a young age. At just 4 years old he began dance classes and by the age of 7 was dancing in the Essex Dance Company. At just 11 years old he was asked to audition for the Royal Ballet School and the next five years saw Daniel take a spot at the much coveted school. At 17 he was offered a job with the Rambert Dance Company and Daniel was soon dancing in places like San Francisco and Bangkok. After a knee injury several years later, and an unshakable urge to move into music Daniel started recording demos and writing songs for other artists including the hit song “Money” which was a top five hit for singer Jamelia.
In 2001 the hard work paid off and Daniel was signed to Dreamworks after attracting the attention of their scout Robbie Robertson and began working with the likes of R Kelly. His debut single "I Need an Angel", reached number 30 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart in 2002, and was later re-recorded by American Idol winner Ruben Studdard in 2004 as the title track of his second album. Sadly, as happens so much in this industry, nothing from his album was commercially released and with the label owning him for 4 years, Daniel moved back to London and took up teaching dance and ballet.
Shortly after this Daniel became a proud father to son Theron and 3 years later decided it was time to give his dreams another shot and auditioned for ITV1’s The X Factor. Sailing through the auditions, Daniel made it onto the live shows becoming one of the twelve final acts and was mentored by Louis Walsh. Sadly, Daniel was voted off the live shows after 2 weeks but has no regrets taking part in the show. Daniel is as busy as ever with a mountain of singing appearances around the UK as well as plenty of media work. The future is looking bright for Daniel, who after 2008’s X Factor tour has lots of things in the pipeline.
