911

Everyone remembers 911 - one of the biggest boybands of the 90's and still, years later, are playing gigs for their thousands of loyal fans. 911, made up of Lee Brennan, Jimmy Constable, and Simon "Spike" Dawbarn were formed in 1995, went onto win ‘Search For The ‘Next Big Thing', on ITV1’s ‘GMTV’ and have never looked back since.

May 1996 saw them release their first single, a cover of Shalamar’s ‘Night to Remember’, which made the British Top 40, and gaining more fans by the day, they went onto release their second single, Love Sensation, which charted at No.21. Onwards and upwards for the band, their independent label the Ginga Recording Co. which they had released both singles on, joined forces with Virgin, and started a relationship which was to go on for 4 years. 911 were never off of the TV and never out of the Top 10, with their next 10 singles all entering at Top 10 positions, with 6 Top 5's and a No.1. Firm favourites include "Bodyshakin'", "Don't Make Me Wait", "More Than A Woman" and "A Little Bit More". As well as single success, they also released 4 albums; "The Journey" (No.13), "Moving On" (No.10), "There It Is" (No.8) - a covers album, and "The Greatest Hits And A Little More".

911 had an army of fans all across Europe, and Asia where they went platinum a staggering 20 times, being particularly popular in Malaysia where their debut album "The Journey" remained at No.1 for twenty weeks. They were constantly mobbed wherever they went, performing on every TV show, every awards show and every roadshow they could manage to do. The Smash Hits Awards in 1997 was particularly prominent with the band dressing up in the unforgettable "fat-suits" while performing Bodyshakin' to coincide with the event's "Superhero" themed show. They released a video to coincide with their album, also titled "The Journey" which showed them filming their videos, backstage footage and behind the scenes info. They performed 2 sell-out tours in the UK, one being an Arena tour, and also a massive sell out tour in South East Asia.

In October 1999 however the consecutive run of Top 10 hits ended when they released their new single ‘Wonderland’ (1999), which got to No 13. It was taken from their second album of that year ‘The Greatest Hits And A Little More’. Perhaps this contributed somewhat to their demise in February 2000 when they announced their split live on Chris Moyles’ Radio 1 show, with Lee and Spike being the main instigators. After 2 years apart, and lots of personal problems later, the band regrouped to perform at various venues, performing all the old hits all around the UK to fans who are still loyal to them to this day.

But in April 2005 an opportunity arose which they couldn't turn down. With Lee having tried at a solo career, Spike running his own dance studio and Jimmy working on solo material, they were offered to appear on ITV1's show Hit Me Baby One More Time, performing their biggest hit to date, Bodyshakin', and a cover of their choice to an audience of millions of viewers. With the chance that this could yet again propel them into chart success, the winner of the show getting to release their biggest hit again, Lee, Jimmy and Spike knew that they had to do the show. They performed on the last show of the series, and won the viewer vote by a massive percentage after being up against the likes of Nathan Moore and Ultra Nate. They narrowly lost out in the final to Shakin' Stevens. 911 carried on with more gigs and more tours, and in 2007 joined forces with East 17 for a nationwide UK tour, with support from Friday Hill. Still gigging and touring to this day, 911 are one band to be reckoned with.
